# AI IDEs and agents I used this year

I started with Cursor as my first AI IDE ,used it for a year For the last 3-4 months switched to Claude Code but I am back to Cursor now.

Why I switched to Claude Code?
Cursor had problems working with large react components it failed miserably when working with large react codebase. Claude Code made it easier to do this, everything fit in right in the context and worked , I was able to get my tasks done, but it was slow.

Between this for a brief period of time I was in love with Windsurf but it just didn't deliver , app was laggy and became slow for me I loved their browser feature.

And now again I'm back on @cursor\_ai . They have cracked something, they are doing something right, it's faster than before the agent is making concise changes now than huge refactors. It just works.

Also for a week tried using Codex too but damn its slow and I mean very slow. But I got it as perk with ChatGPT subscriptions thats why I gave it a go.

For now Cursor is still winning and it is my daily driver. I have also matured in ways I use these AI tools than blindly prompting to fix things. I treat them as pair programmers and we work through problems together. I will write about it in some other post.

But right now cursor wins. I feel sad for what happened with Windsurf I really loved the way they provided a set of icons to choose from
